At my house we keep the heat set to 68 degrees. (Fahrenheit, obviously) This temperature is considered perfect by everyone in my house...my husband, my kids, even the dog.

Everyone but me.

I spend the winter swaddled in clothes and blankets, freezing my butt off and dreaming of spring. Why do I live in this state, again?

A little over a week since my surgery and I have to say, I'm astonished at how much better I feel already. I had no idea that a tiny little thing like a gallbladder could make you feel so rotten. I only took four days off from work so I'm a little tired and achy, but the constant nagging pain and nausea are gone, gone, gone. Frankly, I regret that I didn't have it done sooner!

It's good to feel well. ^_^

Surgery was at 7:45 am. My surgeon, whom I believe bears a striking resemblance to Pat Morita, took about twenty minutes to remove my gallbladder. I'm sore and sleepy, got home at about noon, but feeling okay. Thank you everyone for your good wishes!

I come back from a month of silence to say I'm going in for surgery next week, yikes! I knew it was coming but now that I have a date scheduled, I'm a little freaked out. I'm having my gallbladder removed, so it's not the most major thing in the universe but it is still kind of...yikes.

On the plus side, I think it's just a tiny scar.

Ugh, the past couple of months have been a blur of sickness and work. Which sucks, just in case anyone was wondering.

My son has been out of school sick since last Thursday. I just called and made him another doctor's appointment, poor kid. Of course, all he cares about is getting better before Halloween. Me, I'm sick and haven't worked since Monday which naturally fills me with worry and guilt.

Blah. Why do germs suck so much?

Geez, has it really been a month since I posted? Yikes.

Been having a handful of medical issues just lately, so all I've been able to really do is be sick, work, sleep, rinse and repeat. Bleh. I have a few more tests tomorrow and then hopefully we'll get down to it and fix it. Mostly, it's my gallbladder and if anyone had told me that a tiny thing like that could make you sick as a freaking dog, I would have been astonished. Now I'm just miserable. 9_9

I'm on an Angel kick right now, something I do every once in a blue moon. Why didn't people write more Angel/Doyle for me? I have a passionate love of Doyle, who cares if he was only on a handful of episodes! There's only a few stories out there with him though, less than that of a decent length, and I wrote one of 'em. Eventually, I get sullen and read Spike/Xander, lots of that out there.

I miss my undead show, le sigh.

Transformers - Robot Lover
Okay, I've been out of town, in Las Vegas, and I had no laptop, so I hope people can forgive me for my silence lately. ;)

Anyway, I just have to point everyone in the direction of these lovely pictures that [info]gailee122 did for my Transformers series! Go look and tell her how awesome they are!

Lookie here, pretty pics!

Looking For Group - Richard
Seriously, folks, those of you on my list who read Looking For Group (and if you don't, why not??) was today's comic not just about the most romantic thing Richard could have done? You know, for Richard. *G* You just have to love Dick, am I right? (...heh, sorry, I couldn't resist, *G*)

Etc -- DNA
Anyone out there interested in doing a readover for me? It's a sequel to "And Years Went By" so it'd be a pretty good idea to have read that one first. I'm not normally so paranoid, but heck, I really liked that story and I don't wanna wreck it with a crummy continuation.

ETA: Have volunteers! Thank you!

Etc -- Running Through My Veins
My husband and I have recently developed an unnatural addiction to our local salvation army. It just opened this last year and we donated a ton of stuff and our generosity has been greatly rewarded.

Thus far we have netted:

A super awesome retro sofa and loveseat with all the pillows and arm covers ($35!)
assorted shoes for my fashion addicted daughter
4 retro dining room chairs
a large harvest picture that matches my kitchen wonderfully
various Halloween's collectibles
jeans, jeans, and more jeans for my son
A gorgeous dollhouse-shaped bookcase that is almost twice my daughters size and retails for over $100 ($12)

Soon, my whole house will be decorated in Early American Junk. *G*

"Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!"

Okay, um, a couple of these might have more than a sentence. If the meme Secret Police come for me, I love and will miss you all!

Trek -- Kneeling Spock by elystia
This Rebellious Nature
by Keelywolfe
Pairing: Spock/Kirk
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 5500

Summary: Sarek takes a teenaged Spock with him on an Ambassadorial trip to Earth. This does not work out the way a father might hope.

Notes: This was all inspired by a picture and it's not even a Trek one. My brain just wants it to be. if you'd like to see it, it's here. I liked the idea of a young Spock and Kirk in the rain....erm, yeah, that's all I've got. I know I am taking some liberties with Spock's age being that he's really supposed to be older than Kirk, but, eh, the movie tried its best to make them seem similar in age so let's just pretend for a while, okay? As per usual, this story is all [info]sithdragn's fault and I mean it this time! I could be writing something long and plotty and worthy of the Pulitzer, but instead I am writing smut! I'm sure you can all tell how sad I am about that. *G*

Enjoy!

Trek -- Dancing Spock by Cowsparkle
Sometime, I think it was the week before last, I was getting my daily 44 oz Coke. (And yes, I drink those daily. I drink TWO daily but we'll get into my caffeine dependency another time.

Anyway, I have on my keys, aside from, you know, keys:

1. My Speedy Rewards card

2. A keychain of Spock and Kirk that was given to me by the lovely [info]sithdragn. It's a colored drawing of them, and the two of them are standing close enough to satisfy the slasher in me but far enough apart that I don't mind having it on my keys for the entire world to gawk at.

So, a couple weeks ago, I was getting my Coke. And I handed the cashier my keys so she could scan my Speedy Rewards card and thus, I could earn one of my two free weekly drinks. (I drink a lot of Coke, okay?) For the first time, ever, she noticed my keychain and said, "Aww, aren't the cute together!"

..she thought it was a photo of, like, I dunno, my brother or something with his boyfriend! Caught flatfooted, I just mumbled something along the lines of, 'Yeah, they are', and left.

This amuses me to no end, but even more so in that now when I come in, she does not comment on my keys anymore. Just quickly gives me my change. I don't know if she realized who they were later and decided I was a freak or if she thinks that I think she's a freak but either way, I'm amused.

By the way, if you're out there and you noticed the keys because you are a Trek slasher, hi! I don't think you're a freak! Feel free to give me a Vulcan salute next time. ;)
Transformers - Robot Lover
The answer is yes. Yes, I am going to finish it. It has about two sections left and I have every intention of writing them. I was really wanting to see the new movie first but I suspect that work isn't going to give me the chance so I'm going to wing it. I have one Kirk/Spock story that is eating my brain that I have to finish first and then I'm heading back to it.

So, yes, it will be finished. :)

Well, duh!

Sucks -- Google is Your Friend
I was just speculating that I needed a good alien race name and how I wished there was an Alien Race Name Generator out there so I could concentrate on writing and get over trying to think of a damned name.

And then there was Google.

Alien Race Name Generator

Silly me, OF COURSE there is an alien race name generator. Find a niche and fill it, that's the internet way!

I'm particularly fond of the name Unchangers Of Denebola, although Toxic Assassins Of Rigel Ten has a nice ring, too. Technology Women Of The Pit sounds like a great B-movie

ETC -- Goodbye Kitty
In case anyone has been wondering where I am, work has been a nightmare the past couple weeks, so I've been doing nothing but working and sleeping. Bleh.

On a more positive note, this morning, I saw a deer in my backyard! I think it was a doe but I am not sure when the antlers start growing so I can't be sure. She had little fear of me or my son, who I roused to show the deer. My dog, on the other hand, she was less enthused about.

I really need to start a list of all the critters I've seen out here:

Squirrels
Chipmunks
Bat
Woodchuck
Bobcat
rabbits
deer
